Darrington Loggers Chop Down Seattle Lutheran
By Colin Caruso

On a beautiful day in Seattle with the sun shining, the Darrington Loggers traveled south to the big city to take on the Seattle Lutheran Saints. Both of these teams seemingly didn’t want to hold onto the football for the first quarter, which saw six turnovers, three from each team prior to a Bruce Massingale 99 yard score from the Loggers. The Saints turned the ball over again on their next possession, and this time Lane Monteith pounded the ball in the endzone for the Loggers, taking a 12-0 lead into the second quarter.

The game turned sour for the Saints in the second quarter. Two more turnovers for the Saints and a 28 point quarter for the Loggers really put this game out of reach. The Saints were able to get on the board late in the second quarter with a great TD run by Abijah Smith, but still they trailed 40-7 at the half.

The Loggers would tack on two more scores in the third quarter, and an additional score in the fourth, to bring their total to a whopping 60 points on the day. Darrington now moves to 4-0 overall with a good opportunity to make a run deep into the playoffs.

Lake Roosevelt Shuts Out Seattle Lutheran
By Colin Caruso

With Seattle Lutheran Saints senior star Abijah Smith sidelined with a concussion from last week, the Lake Roosevelt Raiders capitalized on interior runs to trample the shorthanded Saints. Seattle Lutheran went into their bag of tricks on the first drive of the game and completed a halfback pass all the way to the 3 yard line. Everything went downhill from the Saints from there. Lake Roosevelt pushed them back to the 12 in the next three downs and blocked the Saints attempt at a field goal. The Saints would not see the redzone for the remainder of the day.

Lake Roosevelt dominated the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. Only attempting one pass in the game, the Raiders marched down the field on multiple drives with handoffs and tosses, amassing 6 touchdowns on the ground. They dominated in the first half, scoring 33 of their 40 points prior to their locker room trip. With grueling defense and a stellar running game, the Raiders shut down Seattle Lutheran by a final score of 40-0.
