From his playing days at Puyallup High School and Pacific Lutheran University to his decades on the sidelines, Kurle built his legacy the right way: through hard work, relationships, and a deep commitment to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. His coaching journey included stops at Clover Park, Bethel, and Graham-Kapowsin, where he helped shape programs, inspire players, and build championship level cultures.
At Bethel, Kurle led a highly successful run that included a 73-12 record over seven seasons and three semifinal appearances. He later took on the challenge of building the Graham-Kapowsin program from the ground up, guiding the Eagles to a 148-40 record over 17 seasons, consistent playoff success, and a historic 2021 season that included a state championship and a National Bowl victory in Las Vegas.
Beyond the wins, records, and championships, Coach Kurle’s greatest impact can be seen in the people he influenced — players, assistant coaches, families, and communities. Supported throughout his career by his wife Erika and their family, Kurle’s journey represents everything great about high school football: commitment, perseverance, teamwork, and heart.
Congratulations to Coach Eric Kurle on this outstanding honor and his induction into the Washington State Football Coaches Association. His legacy will continue to inspire Washington football for years to come.
