Auburn Riverside Shuts Out Kentridge

On a beautiful evening in Kent, Wa. the Kentridge Chargers hosted the Auburn Riverside Ravens on French Field in front of a great crowd. The Ravens, dominate all game, started offensively in the spread and moved the ball seamlessly down the field to score the first touchdown of the game. The Kentridge defense was no match for the Ravens’ offensive line, with quarterback Alex Riley having tons of time to pick apart the Charger secondary. However, the Charger defense benefited on penalties in the next two drives and held the Ravens to no points for the remainder of the first.

Auburn Riverside coach Bryant Thomas made a strong offensive adjustment after those two straight scoreless drives. Instead of the spread offense they moved to the “I” formation and the pistol to run the ball with more of a power feel. This worked spectacularly well, with two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter and a pick-six, the Ravens took a 26-0 lead into the locker room at half. The lead was made possible through sound offense and a stifling Raven defense.

The Ravens allowed just 27 total yards in the first half, only to be topped by allowing 17 yards in the second half. Kentridge moved into Raven territory twice, but once was on a kickoff return and the other was through multiple penalties. An amazing performance by the Ravens defense against the run in the second half led the Chargers to a -12 yard rushing total after halftime. The Charger defense stepped up as well, not allowing any points in the second half. The game had a blowout feel, but no scoring in the second half led to a 26-0 finish in favor of Auburn Riverside.
